Paris
Paris, a city at the heart of Europe, is the favourite destination of almost 30 million visitors.
The capital’s ability to change and to be up amongst the ranks of the most innovative cities makes it one of the most attractive destinations with linkages to the world by six train stations and two international airports. An urban and architectural transformation is also underway in Paris: the city is taking on a new look in numerous urban districts and spaces, such as in the Les Halles district, destined to become a veritable green oasis in the heart of the capital. The project of Paris Métropole, aimed at creating a new urban fabric and increased links between Paris and adjacent towns, has become a major development scheme for the capital. In the coming years, architectural projects like the Triangle tower, at porte de Versailles, the development of the Masséna-Bruneseau district, in the South-East, and the future Signal and Phare towers, at La Défense, will forge links with neighbouring communes.
Paris and sustainable development.
Living and staying in the capital, a veritable green city, is a pleasurable experience. Eco-neighbourhoods are springing up all over Paris, like for example in the Clichy-Batignolles or Pajol districts, in the 18th arrondissement. The covering over of some parts of the ring road is contributing to the creation of new parks, for relaxation and well-being. For getting around, Paris plays the ecology card. The introduction of bus lanes has facilitated circulation in the capital and the success of the tramway in the south of Paris has led to a project to extend it to neighbouring communes. Not to mention the resounding success of the Vélib’ self-service rental bicycles, which have inspired the Autolib’ project, a self-service electric car hire scheme available soon in Paris. And as fluctuat nec mergitur is the motto of Paris, the city has invested in its fluvial network with Batobus, linking the major tourist sites, and Voguéo, the new river shuttle bus that links Paris to other towns along the Seine.
